What is alterego?

alterego is competitive monitoring for founders and product teams. It tracks your competitors every day — pricing, launches, discontinuations, claims — fact-checks which announcements are real moves versus marketing noise, and delivers a briefing you can read in five minutes.

How does alterego track competitors?

You name the competitors (or paste your own site and let alterego propose them). Trackers sweep each competitor daily: their pricing and product pages, news, and community discussion. Every detected change is interpreted, verdict-checked, and ranked, so the briefing shows moves — not mentions.

What is the substance audit?

Every competitor announcement gets a verdict: substantive (verified quotes, dates, corroborating traces) or marketing noise (no date, no price, zero independent evidence). Most tools forward you the announcement; alterego tells you whether it's real — with the receipt attached.

What is deep research?

Beyond daily tracking, alterego can run a multi-step research pass on your market: competitors, positioning, buyer language, credible sources. Research runs discover new rivals worth tracking, and tracker alerts trigger fresh research — the two feed each other.

What is a market profile?

A short description of what you sell and who buys it. It personalizes the briefing — "what this means for you" — and scopes research and discovery to your market.

What lands in the briefing?

A verdict headline, the day's competitor moves ranked by significance (each expandable to its fact-check receipt), a needs-you queue (new rivals to vet, trackers to fix), and — weekly — a strategic outlook that weaves research findings with the tracked moves.

Pricing

How much does alterego cost?

Flat monthly fee, no per-use charges. Starter is $49/month (1 market profile, daily tracking + briefing, 10 research runs per month). Pro is $199/month (5 market profiles, 50 research runs, deeper research, the weekly strategic outlook email and email support). Annual billing brings Starter to an effective $39/month and Pro to $159/month.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, 14 days, no credit card required. You get the full product during the trial; subscribe only if it earns its keep.

What is the difference between Starter and Pro?

Starter covers one market (1 market profile, 10 research runs per month). Pro covers a portfolio (5 market profiles, 50 runs), adds deep research, the weekly strategic outlook and email support. Both are flat-fee with everything else included.

Do you offer an enterprise plan?

Yes: unlimited market profiles and research runs, custom integrations and dedicated support with an SLA. Contact alterego.intlabs@gmail.com for enterprise inquiries.

How do I cancel?

From the billing page, managed through Stripe. Your access continues until the end of the period you have paid for; there are no cancellation fees.

Data and privacy

Is my data used to train models for other customers?

Your workspace data is isolated to your organization. Using anonymized prompts and responses to improve our models happens only with your separate opt-in consent, which you can withdraw at any time in account settings.

How is my Reddit account connected and used?

Through standard OAuth, read-only. Connecting Reddit raises the API limits alterego uses to read community discussion about your competitors (buzz corroboration on detected moves). alterego never posts anything, anywhere.
